Innovative Micro Refractor Packaging

These refractors facilitate the deflection of laser beams at specific angles, altering projection directions within periscopic optical systems. Traditional refractors have faced significant challenges due to limitations in grinding and cutting processes, restricting their dimensions to within 1mm×1mm and making the packaging process complex and costly.

Advancements in Edge Emitting Laser (EEL) Technology

The study addresses these challenges by pioneering the development of micro refractors through advanced semiconductor fabrication techniques. The innovative micro refractor technology allows for the redirection of lateral emissions into forward-facing emissions, achieving dimensions as compact as 0.6mm×0.6mm. This miniaturization not only streamlines the chip-on-board (COB) package procedures but also significantly reduces costs, thereby expanding the application market for EELs.
